8 June 1880 — Venice
Tuesday. 8th June [1880]. Breakfasted at 10 as we had to wait for Mr Malcolm who had to go to our house with the judge to see abt the theft. After that we went over to our house to the upper floor & settled what changes we would have made & wh room we wd choose for our bedroom &c. We then came home & lunched. Afterwards Henry went off to Burano to see the “Artisti” & Countess Marcello fetched me & we went to see the Pallestrina lace depot & saw there some silk lace (guipure) wh had been made for Ct Papadopoli’s new house. The lace alone costing 2000 fcs a chair. We then went to the Murano Co shop & chose some glasses for Maria & then home. We dined with Css Marcello, Mr Malcolm, Rawdon Brown & Css Brandolin dined there also. In the eveng we talked of the Burano lace & I offered to take to Paris some she was sending to Worth the dressmaker. We went home early.
