29 July 1880 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Thursday. 29th [July 1880]. Connie came to my room & wrote letters in the morng & I sat & sewed at a bonnet the Pss had asked me to arrange for her to wear at a distribution of prizes at Wimborne. After lunch Henry, Lord Breadalbane, Miss Spencer Churchill & I played lawn tennis till the rain drove us in. We had to have the tea in the hall. I was going to assist in pouring it when Cornelia came in & snubbed me so that I retired in dismay & had some up in my room. Mr Clark arrived this afternoon– He took me in to dinner & I had Lord Anson on the other side. Usual singing & playing in the eveng but Lady Somers cheered us up. Connie came & sat in my room & talked till late.
