31 July 1880 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 31st July [1880]. We left Canford by 11.13 train. Met Luff at the station. Henry & I went with Pss Frederika, Baron Powell & Connie in the saloon carriage as far as Basingstoke where we left the train & took a Reading train. At Reading we lunched at the station & went on to Dorking where we arrived at 5. Mrs Rate’s carriage met us. Had tea & rested till dinner. Alice & her children & ourselves were the party. Sang in eveng. | |
