25 August 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 25th [August 1880]. Did not get up very early. Had a busy day unpacking boxes of silks &c & arranging my boudoir. At 4 I went out in the gondola with Henry went to the Murano glass shop & chose a mirror to send Telad Effi’s daughter at whose wedding I was on the Bosphorus. We went to Palazzo Balbi to see Guggenheim’s shop but everything was too dear so we went to Riettis & to another man at S. Salvadors & found some cornices at the latter with the fleur de lis wh are said to be out of the Chambord Palace now belonging to Franchini. We dined at 7 & went out afterwards to Piazza for ices—the band played.
