Wednesday. 1st September [1880]. My 9th bath. The sea had so far abated that I was able to bathe as usual but one had to hold tight on to the rope in order not to be carried off ones feet. Read & worked all day. Henry went out in the afternoon but I remained at home. Got a telegram from Morelli that he will not come today but tomorrow instead. Were going out in gondola after dinner when we found it beginning to rain; we gave it up returned to play dominoes– | |
