20 September 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 20th [September 1880]. Hard day’s work getting the pictures put up in the dining room & the big V. glasses in the hall. I did not go out all day. Louisa & I put up books in the library. After dinner Henry & I went in the Piazza to hear the band play—being the anniversary of the Entry of K of Italy into Rome it was a fête & blue & red lights were burned all up the tower of St Marks. | |
