15 October 1880 — Milan | |
Friday. 15th October [1880]. We all 4 went out after breakfast. Drove to the gallery—bought books & I bought a dress– Walked on into the Cathedral—down the Corso—& looked out for a hat—wh was not to be found—went in to Baslini to see some old lace wh we did not care abt buying– Went into the Church of San Marco– Service was going on & the organ playing. Back to the Hotel. Lunch at 12. Station at 12.30 & left by 5 mins. to 1 train for Venice. Mr Burton went with us as far as Vicenza. We got in soon after 7. Drakes dined with us & left early. | |
