16 October 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 16th [October 1880]. Busy morning unpacking & arranging things. Fine & warm weather. The Drakes came here after lunch & Henry & Sir Wm went out together. Ella stayed with me & we both worked & chatted. They dined with us. Mr Colnaghi H.M. Consul at Florence dined with us. We went out after dinner to the Piazza to walk. Splendid moonlit night. We walked to the Ponte de la Paglia to see the Ponte dei Sospiri by moonlight & then we parted with Mr Colnaghi & took the Drakes to their Hotel & so went home. | |
