5 November 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 5th [November 1880]. I painted all the morning & Mr Cavenaghi was kind eno’ to give me some hints abt my picture & I worked hard all the day. After dinner we were playing dominoes when Mr Bentinck called to bid us good bye as he leaves for London tomorrow & he was very civil to Henry & anxious to insinuate that he was ready to offer himself as his champion against the Govt. When he left we finished our game of dominoes & went to bed. | |
