17 December 1880 — Rome | |
Friday. 17th December [1880]. Morelli came to see us in the morng after breakfast. Henry & I, Giovi & Cortelazzo went off to the Vatican to see the Museum. We stayed there all the morng & Corto was enraptured with the things he saw. We returned for lunch. After lunch Henry took Corto to see Aless: Castellani’s things & then returned for me & we took a little walk to look at the shops & came in early. Lady Bagot called and then Morelli came & sat with us talking till he had to go away to dine. We dined at 7 alone. In the eveng we played dominos. | |
