12 March 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 12th March [1881]. Dr Nevin & Henry went off to Torcello & Burano & did not return till abt 5. Cortelazzo & I lunched at 1 & then he set off for Vicenza. I wrote a lot of letters. In the afternoon a fairhaired girl was brought to me who consented to stand for an hour for me to paint the hair of my Turkish slave– She looked very cross over 2 fcs wh we gave her when she left. Dined upstairs. Bed at 11. | |
