22 March 1881 — Paris | |
Tuesday. 22nd March [1881]. Alice came & fetched me & we did a little shopping & called on Lady Frances Baillie & then joined the rest of the party at the Grand Hotel at 12.30 & breakfasted. The great table d’hôte room there is used as a kind of restaurant & one can breakfast there very well at 5 fcs a head. After breakfast Alice went to pay a visit and I & Francie walked to Hotel St Romain & I rested till 5 oclock & F. went out with Hill. At 5 I went out to DuCroquet’s again to meet Alice & finish trying on our gowns & then returned & Mr & Mrs Rate dined with us at our hotel. Afterwards we went to the “Varietés” & saw a capital piece called La Roussotte wonderfully well acted throughout & very laughable. Henry & I walked home to the hotel. | |
