3 July 1881 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Sunday. 3rd July [1881]. Wrote letters for today’s post. Copied a map of the valley for Monty which took me till lunch time. After lunch Monty & Henry went up the river to fish trout. I stayed in & read and then made a sketch of the view out of the window & had done it just by 7 oclock dinner. The Genl. went out fishing before we finished dinner & Monty went out afterwards. Henry & I played cribbage. The steamer came in abt 10 with our post & with last Monday’s papers– The laws for fishing oblige that there shd be no salmon fishing from 6 Satr eveng to 6 on Sunday eveng. Our cook Hans took leave of us today & returned to Molde under the excuse of ill health. He sails at 6 in the morng wh returns to Molde– Abt 1 P.M. Monty returned having caught a salmon of 25 lbs. The Genl. got nothing–
