5 July 1881 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Tuesday. 5th July [1881]. Breakfast at 10. Gardened in the morng & went down to see Monty fish on the bank. It was showery most of the time but the air was soft & pleasant. We dined at 4 & afterwards Henry & I went sea fishing & had very bad luck. I took 3 whiting & Henry 2. We had to encase ourselves in Mackintosh as there were several very heavy showers. We came in at 9.30 & played cribbage. The Genl. was the next in not having killed any fish—so we set to & had a little supper & tea & then Monty came in with the like bad sport & then we retired discomforted to bed.
