10 July 1881 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Sunday. 10th July [1881]. A pouring wet day and we had to find indoor employments. Henry & I corrected a lot more of the Lace book & then I began to copy it out wh occupied me till dinner time at 4 o’clock. In the evening Henry went out fishing entirely enveloped in waterproof but he caught nothing. Monty went out & brought home a salmon of 15 lbs. The General & I stayed at home– Read and wrote letters. The steamer with the post came in abt 8. I got a letter from Blanche & one from Giovanni. Played cribbage with the Genl. Had supper by candlelight it being such a dark night. This is the first time we have had to light candles since we came to Norway.
