8 August 1881 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey | |
Monday. 8th August [1881]. Breakfast at 10. At 11.15 started for the station accompanied by Alice Rate. She saw Henry & me off by the 11.45. We had some time to wait & met there Mrs & Miss Arnold & Mr Tom Hughes who were going to Leatherhead. We went on to town—drove home got letters & then I went on in a cab to Blanche’s to ask her to take me driving in the afternoon & went on to lunch at Langham House with Mama & Mr S. Alice Du Cane was there & also Ivor. We talked abt buying plate & Ivor said he was going to buy a teapot– I said I must do ditto so agreed to go out & look for one & when Blanche came to call for me. I asked her to meet me at Savile Row. Ivor & I went in a handsome to Philip’s in Bond Street & we bought a teapot which he made a present to me of & then he left me at Savile Row just as it began to rain. Blanche joined me and we waited and had tea & then we went out in a handsome to Woollands & the Stores & I came home & dressed & we dined at Langham House. Ivor also dined there & Alice. Mr S. remained at the house– | |
