12 August 1881 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 12th August [1881]. We went to take leave of Monty in his room as he was not yet up & left London by 9.15 train for Paris. Thro’ Arthur’s kindness we had a comfortable carriage & a private cabin on the steamer which was very lucky as we had a very bad crossing & were 20 minutes longer than usual. We therefore got to Paris ½ hour late– Mr Belard met us & looked after the luggage & we went on & dined at 8 oclock. Went early to bed very tired.
