14 August 1881 — Paris
Sunday. 14th August [1881]. I stayed in all the morng & wrote a lot of letters & Henry went out & brought in Sir Robt Collier whom he had met in the street & arranged to go to see the Panorama of the Seige of Paris with him in the afternoon. We lunched at 1.30 & at 2 went to the Wagram to fetch Sir Robt. There was a heavy shower & we had to get into a cab wh was rather a squeeze. The Panorama was in the Champs Elysées & very well done tho’ we were not so enthusiastic abt it as Sir Robert. We parted with him there & Henry & I went into the Electrical Exhibition. We did not remain long as we did not understand it much & wanted some one to explain it. We walked back to the hotel by the Champs Elysées. Visit from Mr Adams. It was showery all day. Dined at 7.30 & played cribbage in the evening.
