19 August 1881 — Milan | |
Friday. 19th August [1881]. Breakfast at 9 & then drove to the Cathedral & went round it ever admiring afresh its wonderful proportions. We then went to the Gallery where I invested in a parasol. Then back to the hotel. Lunched at 11.30 & left by 12.45 train for Venice. Arrived there at 7.15. Giovanni came to Padua to meet us. Dined. Looked at the alterations &c in the house & went to bed at 11 after our game of cribbage. | |
