22 August 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 22nd August [1881]. Tremendous scirocco– Wrote letters & read till lunch. Afterwards read & worked it being too hot to move. Henry went out in the afternoon to see Guggenheim. Dined at 7. Went out to the Piazza—band played– Home & played cribbage. Bed. Had a letter from Monty offering to let us the rooms at Savile Row for £250—keep one housemaid and ½ gas which I wrote & accepted. | |
