23 August 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 23rd [August 1881]. Still scirocco. Superintended the putting up of the moorish plates in the long gallery which took all the morning. Read & wrote a few letters in afternoon. Had a visit from Mr Malcolm at 4. At 5 Henry went to see Rawdon Brown whom he found less well & affected by the heat. Dined at 7. Went out in gondola & took a few turns in the Piazza. Home & played cribbage– | |
