26 September 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 26th [September 1881]. I modelled all the morning– Mrs Burr sat with me talking most of the time & then at 12 they went to catch the 12.40 train for Florence & we remained with an empty house. After lunch we had a visit from Rawdon Brown who came specially to ask my pardon for his yesterday bad humour & he kissed both my hands in token of repentance. I went out with Henry in the gondola– We landed at the Giardinetto & went to the square to a shop & then to Danieli’s to leave a card & returned to the gondola & went home. Css Olga Mocenigo dined with us quite alone. Her people left Venice today & she leaves tomorrow so we begged her to come & dine with us. She left early so Henry & I played cribbage.
