28 September 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 28th [September 1881]. I worked hard all the morning to get my bust finished & looked out by appointt to see the Castellanis pass by to go by the 12.40 train. Henry went out after lunch & returned at 4 to fetch me. In his absence had a visit from Dr Nachtigal who came to take leave of me as he leaves Venice tomorrow the Congress being over. He speaks English very well & is a very quiet pleasant man. At 4 I went out for a row & we went a good way towards the Lido & back. After dinner Henry went out to the Piazza for a little while. I remained at home & pasted in the despatch book & read & we went early to bed.
