9 October 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 9th October [1881]. Had a headache & did not go to church. Pasted into despatch book all morning. Lord & Lady Bury & 2 daughters called before lunch. They are going to remain here some time & are going to move from Danielis to the Britannia. After lunch went out in gondola & left cards on Hegermanns & went to call on Lady de Rothschild & found they had left. Took a row out—came home by 5. Made some cigarettes for Henry & then laid down & slept my head being bad– Dined up in library. Lay on sofa & played cribbage till bed time. | |
