13 October 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 13th October [1881]. Practised singing in the morning. Went on with copy of Moroni till lunch at 1. Afterwards Henry went to Murano & took with him the Burys & the Brownings & Mr Field met him there. It was really a fine morning but at 3 it suddenly became overcast & it soon got so dark I could hardly see to paint which was a bore as I had stayed in on purpose to do so. Copied some papers for Henry. Pasted in despatches till dinner & again after dinner. Played cribbage till bed time. | |
