8 November 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 8th November [1881]. The third foggy day. Connie had a tendency to bronchitis so we did not let her go out & she & I remained at home together. I modelled all day going on with Cortelazzo’s bust and studying Victorias busts of wh I have the casts. I wrote & invited all I knew were here to come to tea this evening– After tea downstairs I pasted despatches upstairs. We dined at 7.30. Ld & Lady Bagot, & one girl, Mr & Mrs & the 2 Lowther girls, Mme Hurtado & Idita, Mrs Eden & her friend Miss Bird, Baron Warsberg, Mme Pilat, Count Contarin, Miss Bronson, Lady Bellingham Graham, Mme de [illegible word] came in the evening to tea. Connie played the piano, Mme Pilat sang, Bee Eliot played the violin & both the children sang bits of “Patience.” | |
