12 November 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 12th November [1881]. Idita came in her sandolo & fetched the children. I modelled all the morning at Cortelazzo’s beard & Connie sat & talked to me. Lady Bagot & Kate B. came up to the studio in the morning. We lunched at 1 & then Connie, Charlie, the 2 girls, Henry & I went off to the photo shop & I was photod and then Connie & I together & then Henry alone, this took us from 2 till nearly 4. We went to the Piazza & took a turn or two & Connie, Charlie & I went to the fan shop & we each bought ourselves a fan & then returned to the Piazza & met Countess Olga with her little girl of 3 years old. Came home & gave up a visit we had intended to pay Mr Eden a visit but just as we arrived at his house we found him being carried up in his chair & saw his gondolier slip & fall chair & all & we knew it must have shaken him so we went straight home. Later while Connie & I were writing upstairs Mrs Eden came to pay us a visit and stayed chatting till nearly dinner time. After dinner cribbage & Beethoven. | |
