20 November 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 20th November [1881]. Woke with a headache & remained in bed. When Connie came in to see me she said that Bee also had a headache & proposed she should come & lie on my bed wh I gladly assented to. In fact I made her undress & get into bed by my side. I wrote & Evely & I read some of the days service to Bee. About 3 I got up but Bee was not well eno’ & was very sick. I gave Hill my writing paper and packed my paint box to go in the London boxes. Henry took Connie, Charlie & Evely to the Armenian Convent & it was a splendid day. Bee & I amused each other as best we could & abt 5 she got up & laid on the sofa in the studio but seemed very unwell. I got better & was able to go down to dinner. Music in eveng. Connie played Beethoven.
