8 December 1881 — Paris | |
Thursday. 8th December [1881]. Breakfast at 9. At 11 I went out with Henry on foot. He took me to DuCroquet to try on my dress & then we walked home looking into all the shop windows. Connie was not very well & I persuaded her not to get up till lunch. Henry & I lunched at 1 & went out together in a fiacre to the Embassy first to ask for some addresses. Mr Atlee being in I went in with Henry to see him & he was very nice & civil. We went on & left cards at Baron Mercier’s then the Fourniers, a long way off Boulevard Mont Parnasse—then at Spanish Embassy. Found none of them at home. Came back to the Hotel at 3.30. Henry went on for a walk– Lord Lyons came to call & Henry returned & found him here & asked for Connie & Charlie. He asked them to dinner on Sunday to meet us but they will be gone off to London. I made tea for Henry, Connie & self. Mr O’Connor came to call & saw us all. We went to dine with B. & Bss Weisweiller & met Mme Porges and also Ct de Chaudordy. In the evening the Marquis de Garadel Cazar was there. We came home at 11– | |
