21 December 1881 — Milton Abbey, nr. Blandford, Dorset | |
Wednesday. 21st December [1881]. Breakfast at 9.30. Then went up & sat with Susan in her room while she breakfasted after which we had a great clothes worry—tried on a gown Susan wanted to sell me & showed her my garments & consulted abt arraignments. Wrote some letters & directed Christmas cards to send off. After luncheon I went with Susan & Henry to see the old Abbey & then off to drive with Susan in the Victoria. It was very cold & there was a little ice on the ponds. Came in abt 4. Had tea sat working & talking till dinner at 7.30. Henry & Susan played cribbage. I worked– Bed early. | |
