31 December 1881 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 31st December [1881]. Breakfasted abt 11 with Henry & the Farquharsons. A good many people left early & others abt 1. Henry & I, Maria, Richard & Alice left by 2.30 train directly after our luncheon. We found Lady Randolph & Mr Vane Tempest, who had gone to catch the previous train to London, on the platform having missed their train. We came to Henstridge wh took us about an hour. Lady Westminster was at home. Merthyr & Theo were hunting & came in by T time. Rested before dinner & we went early to bed being all very tired after our last night’s dissipation & so we ended the year 1881 tucked up in our beds. | |
