6 January 1882 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Friday. 6th January [1882]. No one went out hunting– I wrote letters & then sat with Lady Westr. After luncheon Henry & I walked in the garden– It was very mild & all the rose trees are beginning to put out their leaves—they will be sadly deceived later on when frost & snow trips them. Luff arrived in the afternoon & dined & slept. After dinner he & Lady Westr, Henry, Theo played whist. Merthyr & I played & sang, & talked in the gallery the while–
