20 January 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 20th January [1882]. Fog & had lights all morning. Burton came to see my knee & ordered it to be painted with iodine & bandaged. Worked at chair covers—& machine—Maria & Alice came at 1.30. Burton came again to see Alice who is not very well. Henry took her out walking after lunch. Maria & I drove down to see Connie & then went to her butcher’s close by where I agreed to deal & contracted to pay 9½ lb all round. Left Maria at Kensington Station & then went to Rutland Gate to call on Mrs H. Reeve who was at home. Went on to see Susan Hambro who had not arrived in town– Left cards on the Tenterdens—went home. Just missed Susan H. who had been to me– Mr Ball called. Alice remains with us till Monday. Covered chairs till dinner. Played cribbage in evening.
