5 March 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 5th March [1882]. I went to service at St George’s chapel in Albemarle St where Henry & I used to go when we lived in 2 Grafton St just after we married. God Save the Queen was played before & after the service & a very loyal sermon was preached. I met Cornelia as I came out of church & walked with her down Dover St then I went home to lunch. Monty lunched at home. Castellani of Venice came to see Henry. At 3 we went out in the carriage. I went to Blanche’s to return her flower pot & left Henry there. I went to 19 Warwick Crescent to call on Miss Browning who was at home. From there I went to the Drummonds at 15 Hyde Pk Gardens & found them in. Met Mr Chenery there & an M.P. whose name I did not realize. I thence drove to Mansfield St & had tea with the Hambros. Mr Hambro walked with me from there to Hamilton House. In Bond St we passed a bonbon shop & as I expressed a wish to have some Mr Hambro tried the door & we found it opened & he bought me a box. We found Ivor & Cornelia at home & I sat some time talking with them. At 7 Ivor & I sallied forth, he to church, & I home– It was pouring & I had to run. Henry & I dined alone & played cribbage in the eveng.
