13 March 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 13th March [1882]. Spent all the morning writing letters & dinner invitations. Mr Burdett Coutts came to see Henry about settling the Turkish Women Working Fund affairs. It was agreed to put it on a new footing & to make Mrs Arthur Hanson a present of £100. I drove out after lunch. Went to Soho Bazaar; to call on Lady Lloyd Lindsay—she was out—to Mrs Tennyson who was not up to seeing me—to Mme Blumenthal’s whose “day” it was—then home to tea. Found that Connie had called in my absence. Susan Hambro came to tea & Nety– Mrs Armstrong & her little girl. Arthur came & a Prince Ghika the Roumanian Minister. We dined at 8 & Edward Ponsonby with us. He had been asked to stand for E. Cornwall & was glad of Henry’s advice. He left early to go & talk to others abt it & Henry & I played cribbage. Giovanni started today for Venice.
