4 April 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 4th April [1882]. I had a busy morng writing, packing & arranging things. At 12 I set off for a walk & went to Hellbronner’s, Stotts & to Reid where I left my gold thimble & scissors to be put into a case. I walked on to Queen Anne St to lunch with Blanche. She told me that Susan Hambro was leaving town today so I went over to her house to see her & found she was off to Brighton today. I returned & lunched with Blanche, May & the two little children. At 3 the carriage came for me & I went shopping & at 4 called for Henry at home– I drove him to Sir Wm Drake’s & left him then went on to see Constance who was at home with a bad cold. I then fetched Henry & drove him home. We found that Miss Hogarth had called in our absence– Also Lady Ely. At tea came Mama, Fred & Ida & Arthur Layard. Henry went to dine with Sir Hy Thompson at one of his octave dinners where he met Teniel, Leighton &c & came home at 11. I dined alone.
