14 April 1882 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Friday. 14th April [1882]. Breakfasted in bed– Got up & went to the boudoir & made cigarettes for Henry. Merthyr & Theo went by early train to Blandford where Merthyr hunted & Theo returned by luncheon. At 3 Henry & I went out driving in the victoria to Fifehead. It was windy but fine weather & the fields were full of cowslips– Fifehead house was all shut up. It is a little square Q. Anne house very prettily situated on a slope with a very pretty view. There is a fine old avenue of elms leading to it. We got home again by 4.30. Made more cigarettes in the boudoir & finished them by dinner. In the eveng we sat in microscope room & Henry & Merthyr played cribbage & the rest made plans for coming to Venice in May.
