17 April 1882 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Monday. 17th April [1882]. Breakfast at 9.30 downstairs. Merthyr left to hunt in the New Forest soon after 9. Collected my goods & chattels—fed Lady Westr’s frog for the last time & took leave of her, Theo & Lady E. Parker & Henry & I drove off to Templecombe to catch the 11.30 express for London where we arrived abt 2.25. Went home to Savile Row. Had some lunch. Henry went out to see Sir Wm Drake. I remained at home on the sofa. Blanche came to see me & sat a little while– Later Mrs Burr came & then Maria & afterwards Sir Rd Temple called. Henry came home late and we dined alone & played cribbage. I was not very well & went to bed early.
