21 April 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 21st [April 1882]. Breakfast in bed– Read & worked in drawing room on sofa– Mrs (Temmie) Austin came to see me in the morning and stayed to luncheon. Maria also came to luncheon– At 3 they left & Henry & I drove out in the brougham. I went to the dentist to have a broken tooth stopped. Henry walked on to the Fred Layard’s where I joined him. They were all in & expecting us. They gave us tea & we then returned home. Found Ella Drake waiting to see me– Wrote several letters– Getting a favorable answer abt the housemaid I wrote to engage her– Blanche & Edward dined with us quite alone. Henry & E played cribbage. B & I talked & worked.
