17 June 1882 — En route to Molde
Saturday. 17th June [1882]. We arrived at Christiansund abt 10 A.M. & then began to take in cargo of bacalao which took all day till abt 7. We had some lunch on board & then went & took a walk on shore. It is a most picturesque clean little town built on 3 islands. The streets are steep & uneven. We walked up to the church & sat in the gardens close by & then wandered down & went on board again & played cribbage. Had tea, read & were bored. At 6.30 dinner but as we were going out to the open sea I thought it more prudent not to eat & went to lie down in the cabin. However to our surprise & delight we had quite a calm passage & got in to Molde abt 1 A.M. There was a lovely sunset abt 11.30 & when we got to Molde the sunrise was also very pretty. We went to Hotel Molde where we found very good clean rooms ready for us. Had some tea & turned in.
