24 June 1882 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Saturday. 24th June [1882]. Breakfast at 9.30. Spent the morning sitting on the floor in the drawing room sewing the matting together. It took me till four oclock wh was dinner time. The weather was very hot & there was no fishing possible. After dinner we sat in the porch drawing & talking and then Henry & I went off down to the river’s edge to see whether the water was still rising. We found the river very full & overflowing its banks. After a while Henry turned back & I went on in search of flowers. I got wild roses, fox gloves, white daisies &c & had to climb up a steep bank to get back wh made me very hot. The 3 Montys started off to walk up the seater after dinner. Came home put up my flowers & sat in the porch playing cribbage with Henry. When it was past 11 & the Monties had not returned Henry & I had our supper & then went out again to look out for them. At abt 11.30 they came in having been up to the great waterfall wh we see falling from the hill to the right of our house. We went to bed–
