8 July 1882 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Saturday. 8th [July 1882]. Monty went fishing before breakfast & brought a 5 lb. trout & said the trout were rising so I went out with him after breakfast & had a cast at the Bank. I was just giving up & was letting my line run out to reel up again when I suddenly had a fish on. I called to Monty & he & Ld Rowton who was by ran to me & told me what to do & I soon landed a 2 lb. trout. Encouraged by this I went on fishing nearly the whole time till 3 when I came home tired & with a headache & went up & laid down on the bed & did not go down to dinner but took some medicine & by 8 o’cl I was better. Monty sent a cake & a salmon up to the Carpenters sister as a wedding present & Hill & Siemonsen took them up. Monty, Lords Rowton & Bertie went for a walk– Henry & I played cribbage & I went to bed early.
