20 July 1882 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Thursday. 20th July [1882]. Painted some time. Monty was going up to fish at Bjornes and he offered to take me with him. I gladly prepared to go & we drove up. Mrs Bjornes came down to see me just before I started & to tell me she was better for my medicaments. I fished the pool at Bjornes while Monty sat on the bank drawing & then we went down in the boat together & he fished Kirk Pool & Lerwold & then we landed at Friswold & walked home to dinner at 4. At 6 Ld Rowton & I drove to Hunde but only caught 3 trout– We fished by turns & then at last got into the boat together & I threw my fly while he trailed a minnow– Got home at 11 to supper & had a shower on the way home– A small black dog accompanied us all the way home. Swari said he was called Barfoot. We could not imagine why he left Hunde to come with us till we found that the small boy from Hunde was staying up here & the dog had come to join him.
