24 July 1882 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Monday. 24th July [1882]. Got up at 7 & went to Hill’s room to dress & then went out fishing with John to row. I got nothing & had no rise at all. Finished painting the view of our sitting room. Dined at 4. After dinner I went up to Friswold & fishing down. Monty gave me up his turn. I got a small trout at Kirkpool & hooked & lost another. Had also 2 rises– When I got to Fagerslet Lord Rowton was on the bank & he came down to meet me at Peulen. The weather was showery & cool. When I had just finished Gredhus Pool, Lord R. who was fishing Syltebo’s Rest called to me to come in as it was going to rain hard– We both went home till the shower was over. I then went out again & fished Lower Gredhus. I caught a 5 lb. trout. Lost another bigger one & touched 2 others. Found them at supper when I came in.
