27 July 1882 — Molde
Thursday. 27th July [1882]. Took our ease in the morning & breakfasted late. I had a headache & was low & dozed a good deal in the day. We took a turn in the morng & went to see Herr Randers to give him some commissions from Monty & he translated the telegrams in the Norwegian papers to us with the Egyptian news of 22nd. We dined at 2. The whole town was in commotion at the soldiers going off to Weblungsnes to exercise & Hill told us she saw the funeral procession of a Norwegian priest who was carried back to be buried at Weblungsnes. All the ladies were going with flowers to lay on the coffin. At 6 o’cl Henry & I took a long walk—the weather was splendid warm & like Italy– The view of the mountains with their snow tops opposite us was magnificent. We hoped for a fine passage. Had supper at 8. Played cribbage.
