10 August 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 10th August [1882]. Very busy morning. Clarita came for a little while & I gave her a bonnet Hill had made for her. I did accounts &c Henry’s cold still bad & I sent for Dr Burton again. Arthur came to lunch– Mr Burton (N.G.) called to bid us adieu. I walked out with Arthur to shop & then went on to call on Henry’s aunt Mrs Austen whom I found wonderfully well & clear for her altho’ she asked me to write down my name “as her head was so full of noises & she had so much to think of that she sometimes forgot things.” I then returned home to tea. Alice came up from Putney to sleep tonight & to start abroad with us tomorrow. Sir Wm & Ly Gregory came to tea. Arthur came & dined with us. I was too tired to write letters as I intended & went early to bed.
