21 August 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 21st [August 1882]. The storm burst at 7 this morning. Henry went to Murano at 8.30 with Ct Serego & Mr Castellani to Murano to see the new premises of the New Company for common glass wh is to be opened in Novr. Alice & I breakfasted at 9.30. Worked &c– Css Marcello & Theresa & Uccio her 2 children came to call & were here a long time trying on hats &c wh I had brought from England for them for Theresa’s trousseau. As she is to be married in October to a Ct Agostini della Seta of Pisa. They went away at 12 & return to lunch with us at 1.30. At 3 they left us & Henry, Alice & I went to leave some cards & to the Botanical Gardens to buy some plants & got a few but nothing very good. Came home. Washed plants in the belvedere. Dined at 7. Went to Piazza. Band played. Had ices. Home & to bed at 10.
