23 August 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 23rd August [1882]. Up at 7 & wrote and read before breakfast. Did accounts & paid them. Sr Felice came & we rubbed my bust of Cortelazzo over with a thin coating of clay & water to take out the salt wh comes to the surface the clay not being good. This took some time. Lunch at 1. Henry & Alice went out at 4. I remained at home read & worked. Olga Mocenigo & Idita Hurtado came abt 5 & found me alone but Alice & Henry returned before they left. We had tea up in my studio. We dined at 7. Henry & A went to the Piazza. I stayed at home & began to read Villari’s Savonarola. Cribbage– | |
