25 August 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 25th [August 1882]. Alice better but only came down to lunch. I pasted in despatches for Henry most of the day. I wrote to Mrs Rate & to Mrs Walker & sent letter & cheque for drawings she sent me. There was a thunderstorm in the afternoon. At 5 Henry & I went out to leave cards. We found Idita Hurtado at home & Olga Mocenigo with her & Mme Hurtado came in while we were there. Dined at 7. Henry & I took a row & then went to the Piazza to hear the music. It was a splendid moonlit night– There was a good deal of lightening as from a distant storm.
