16 September 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 16th September [1882]. Mrs Burr having finished drawing out my fan for me & instructed me as to painting it I began it & worked nearly all day at it. Henry, Alice & Mrs B went out after luncheon but I remained at work. When they came in I had a sitting from Henry. Played 4 handed cribbage in evening– News from Egypt confirms the taking of Cairo, capture of Arabi & thus the end of war. | |
